You should collect Colorado beetles -

If the vegetables are spared from diseases, then various pests can still fall on them. Here are the five most common pests.

Fight diseases and pests
Vegetables are not only healthy, they also taste twice as good from your own garden. The individual types of vegetables that you plant in your garden can be affected by both diseases and pests. We would like to introduce you to the five most common pests. Of course, we will also give you a few tips on how to fight the pests.

5 pests and tips to combat them

It is about one centimeter tall, has yellow and black stripes and likes to nibble on the leaves of the potatoes. This can lead to balding. The beetles can be collected, larvae and eggs must be removed with a water jet.

Result of a carrot fly larva -

White maggots of the carrot fly (Psila rosae) damage the young plant through root damage. Once the delicate roots have been eaten, the larva feeds into the carrot and thus destroys the vegetables. To avoid this, carrots should be covered with vegetable nets (we recommend this net). So the fly cannot put up to 100 eggs in the ground next to the young plant.

The moth scale louse (Aleyrodoidea) sucks on plants and forms honeydew. Tomatoes, beans and cucumbers are particularly affected. Yellow boards help against the small plant suckers. You can also use beneficial organisms such as parasitic wasps in an infestation (keyword insect hotel!).

4 Floury cabbage aphid

The floury cabbage aphid (Brevicoryne brassicae), as the name suggests, occurs especially in cabbage plants and sucks leaves there that wilt very quickly. Preventively, it helps to fertilize with nitrogen and dig up the cabbage stalks in autumn. This strengthens the plant and remains of cabbage cannot serve as a food base. In case of heavy infestation by the cabbage aphid, plant protection products with neem oil help.

Carrots, endive lettuce or lettuce are particularly popular with these pests. They live in the ground, adhere to the roots of vegetables and suck the juice out of the plant. Vegetables are particularly popular when the soil is compact and dry. In this case, it is therefore best to prevent the soil from becoming loose and moist.
