Peppers out of the oven

Peppers are real all-rounders in the kitchen because they can be prepared in a variety of ways. They can e.g. cook, grill, pickle, dry, process into soup, puree and much, much more. Great, but unfortunately many a recipe provides for peeling the peppers. However, this is not easy due to their very smooth, firm skin, which is usually difficult to detach from their pulp. But with the help of a few tricks, it is easily possible to skin the tasty vegetables. There are even different methods for this.

Peeling peppers is so easy

❖ Possibility 1 - cook paprika:

One of the most common techniques is skinning using boiling water. For this you need the desired amount of paprika, a kettle, a saucepan and a small, sharp knife. Once you have everything you need, do the following:

  1. Bring some water to a boil in the kettle.
  2. In the meantime, quarter the peppers and remove the core casing.
  3. Then put the quartered pods in the pot, pour the boiling water over them and let them steep briefly.
  4. Then pour cold water over it.
  5. Then you can skin the pieces with the small knife.

❖ Option 2 - Skin peppers in the oven:

If you want to prepare vegetable dishes, antipasti or salads, in which the paprika should bring a delicious roasted aroma, it is better if you peel the paprika in the oven. It's easy too. Just do it like this:

  1. Preheat the oven. In the meantime, you can wash and dry the peppers.
  2. Then quarter the pods, brush with olive oil and place on a baking sheet.
  3. Now roast the vegetables either on the highest level in the oven or under the grill until the peppers' skin darkens.
  4. Then take out of the oven and peel off the skin with a small knife.

❖ Option 3 - Skin peppers in the microwave:

As an alternative to the oven, you can skin the peppers in the microwave. Simply wrap the quartered pods in baking paper and heat them at the highest level for five to seven minutes. The bowl can then be easily removed with a knife.

❖ Option 4 - Skin peppers with a peeler:

If you need the vegetables for dips, salads or raw food, for example, skinning is also possible using a peeler. After all, the peppers should stay fresh and crunchy here. It's not that easy to skin a pepper with a peeler, but it works. After peeling, all you have to do is remove the core and cut the vegetables into pieces or strips as desired.
