Ginger is very healthy

Ginger is not only excellent for refining Asian dishes, it is also a tuber with healing ingredients. For example, you can use ginger tea as a remedy for colds, and ginger can also help with rheumatism. But you can't use a fresh tuber for this (reading tip: grow ginger - that's how it's done). Only dried ginger is suitable for this.

Now you do not have to go to a shop and buy it. You can also easily dry ginger yourself. After all, there are two ways to dry the ginger: namely in the air or in the oven. Once it has dried, you can keep it for a long time in dry storage and also process it further. After grinding, the ginger can also be used as a spice, for example. Dried ginger is of course also a great homemade gift from the garden.

2 ways to dry ginger presented

➤ Option 1 - Air dry ginger:

If you just want to let the ginger air dry, then you first have to cut the tuber into thin slices. You must then place them on kitchen paper, dab them with something and then wait until the slices have dried.

It is usually annoying that ginger always dries out so quickly in the air. However, you can now take advantage of this negative aspect.

➤ Option 2 - dry the ginger in the oven:

Of course, the oven is much faster and more reliable. In this case, you can also be absolutely sure that the ginger does not rot during drying. Here's how to do it:

Step 1 - preheat the stove & cut ginger:

Preheat the oven to 40 degrees. It is best to choose the recirculation setting. In the meantime, you can then cut the tuber into many thin slices.

Step 2 - dab ginger & place on baking paper:

With a kitchen towel you have to dab the ginger slices a little. Then place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.

Step 3 - put ginger in the oven:

We cannot give an exact time for how long the ginger has to dry in the oven, because it always depends on how thick you have cut the slices and how fresh the tuber is. You should therefore check every 15 minutes whether the liquid has completely escaped from the ginger. However, this can take quite a while. So you need a little patience.

If no more liquid comes out when you press the panes, you can turn off the oven and take out the ginger.
